This group was started so that the atheists in the upstate could give back to the community. With our facebook and meetup members combined we have over 140 members. We do volunteer work, community service, food drives, and we have adopted South Blackstock Road. Our billboard should be going up soon also!! This is not only a great group for giving back to the community, but it also makes it easier for like-minded people to meet and socialize. This group is open to all atheists, agnostics, humani …

We are a diverse group of atheists, agnostics, and other rational thinkers that wish to embrace this diversity and promote freethought to the CSRA, as well as inviting anyone who expresses interest to take part! Our goals are to eliminate negative stereotypes of nonbelievers, to meet like-minded forward-thinkers in the CSRA, and to give support to fellow non-theists as well as our greater community through volunteering. We get together for a dinner meetup every other Saturday, with occasional me …
The Bible is a single-volume collection of several historical texts that were composed over a period of many hundreds of years. The collection as a whole (or certain subsets thereof) is considered by Jews and Christians to be sacred, thus making it difficult to have a discussion of the Bible with many who are already familiar with it. This group is for those who wish to take an unbiased, secular approach to these texts. In a traditional Bible study, the purpose is to discover God's word through …

This group is dedicated to promoting positive atheism and to dispelling the negative connotations that the atheism label brings with it. We want to promote the separation of church and state and raise awareness to legislation that disrupts this notion. We want to have a wide variety of events and meet regularly, even if just to hang out with like-minded, good-hearted people. We are completely open to any suggestions regarding the group.
The purpose of this meetup is to find open-minded people to have some great times and excellent conversations without the fundamentalist nonsense. "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson

If you want to spend time with new friends who don't think there's anything wrong with you if you dont have a strong belief in the supernatural, this is the Meetup for you.

All of us have some sort of "philosophy of life," even though we may not have verbalized it. Here you can get ideas for your own philosophy of life. You can see what others think of your own philosophical ideas, and you can help others to become clearer in their own thinking. When there is difference of opinion, we have an opportunity for "friendly debate," a very growth-promoting experience. Bill Van Fleet
