The meeting started at 6:40 with 10 members present.
No new members were in attendance. The meeting started with a discussion of the results opinion poll located on this Meetup site Club official announcements were presented Don Lacey presented the highlights of the American Atheist Convention held in Minnesota on Easter weekend. brief introductions and some comments were made by the members. 10 minute break 15 Minute discussion on morality (not enough time, to be continued) A recording of Representative Dominique Davis chastising Rob Sherman was played (look for that link on the Message Board under Atheist chastised) or click here Room was restored to original condition. Meeting adjourned... Notes... The meeting time is very short in our new venue since the Library closes at 8 pm Half of the attendees decided to continue the discussions at the Safe House on Speedway The Safe House was closed due to a recent fire (who knew) We went instead to the Coffee Shop in the Borders Bookstore at the Park Mall. Discussions continued until a little after 10 PM in the midst of several chess games. Next time we'll scope out a nearer (open) venue for our after meeting socialization. I received two complaints that there was not sufficient time for the group members to interact due to the length of my presentation on the Atheist Convention. In the future, more time will be allotted to individual participation. During the after meeting discussions, I mentioned the video of Senator McCain explaining his take on the Constitution. The link to the recording is located on our Web Site (www.tucsonatheist.org Please accept my apologies for not scheduling enough individual participation time during the meeting. It was not my intention to "hog the mike". From the non verbal feedback I thought the highlights of the American Atheist Convention were being well received. |
