'Freethinkers Meet Up in Derby'
Date: Tuesday, 10th November. Time: 6:30pm Location: Derby Quad Cafe. QUAD, Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AS. Tel: 01332 290 606 www.derbyquad.co.uk I thought us freethinkers can get together for a session of freethinking! We can do the usual: discuss beliefs and philosophies, what we've read, what we've seen, how ridiculous religion is, have a laugh, make new mates, and just have a good time! Plus, it's an ideal event for local secularists of Meetup. com to get know each other. The Café Bar at Derby Quad seems suitable for a convenient spot of conversations over coffee, and it's open until 11pm. We can meet at 6:30pm-ish, and if we want, can always move on elsewhere afterwards. Map: < http://maps.google.co... All Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire-area freethinkers welcome! Saj |

Just left a recruiting message on Atheist Nexus, see if we can get a few more of our fellow free thinkers to come along.

Will it just be us few braving the November chill in deepest, darkest Derby then?
I only see 3 names on the 'yes I'll be there' list. Edited by Richard Healy on Nov 4, 2009 12:55 PM |

There are a few 'Atheists in Britain' members in and around the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire area, and it would be nice if they came along.
I've mentioned the meet up to Andy, the organiser of the 'Nottingham Book, Film & Cafe Sci Group', who has posted a link on their calender. Hopefully, there'll be some interest shown from there too! ![]() |

Saj & other Derby & Nottingham members:
May I suggest that decide on when and where you want to meet next time - the same place if it was satisfactory, at least for a start - you compose a letter )addressed directly to members in the Derby/Nottingham area (as listed on our membership pages) inviting them to the meet up. I am sure that once you get a few more people meeting you will get more members joining you, especially if you emphasise the informal nature of discussions. You might also consider splitting this job between at least two of you. Depending on the response over the next few months, you could consider alternating venues in Derby & Nottingham with a view to eventually getting meeting going in both towns when, in your own good time, you have enough members In the future I could also put the names of towns with meetups into the title of the site to attract new members and looking further ahead successful groups could have their own sites. While activity on the message board is building up, all positive atheists are welcome to join on-line discussion on the London Atheist Group. Sue Edited by Sue M on Nov 13, 2009 9:40 AM |
