I have been wondering what you have been up to. Just looking round and seeing how things work. I see there is lots going on on the London Group suggest you put some of the files on here to attract some proper atheists, hope it doesn't get bogged down with a load of humanists who want to cosy up to the religions.

I'm a Humanist but have no interest in cosying up to religions. We are a bit of a mixed bunch and some are far too tolerant of religion. I believe people are free to practice whatever belief they like but they should not be allowed to influence government policy. Religion and the state should be kept completely separate.

Hi both, I think is the main reason why it is so necessary for strong atheists to group together. Because within humanism we never get a chance to develop our ideas as the discussions go round and round in circles with humanists secularists who are weak atheists, constantly trying to prevent strong atheist criticism and opposition to religion. I think that is very dangerous, because it prevents the rationale of atheism being applied to all religions, and not allowing it just to be used to reinforce racism by concentrating on Islam.

Strong atheists are against religion 'on principle' and against the malign effects of ALL religions and other superstitious beliefs.

This is why I try to make it quite clear, that Atheist Meetup Groups are for Strong Atheists and that includes humanists and secularists who are also strong atheists but not those who think religion OK except for the 'extremists' & muddy the waters by sticking to the religious agenda.

As belief in god declines I think it is very necessary for us to help it on its way, to be replaced by rational evidence based politics and morality based on the enlightened self interest of individuals and society.
