About Atheists in Britain

We welcome strong, positive atheists whether they call themselves sceptics, humanists or secularists.
But not weak atheist who want to stop us from criticising and opposing the evil effects of religion, superstition and sectarianism - in case we offend the religious - and think that we should pat religion on the head and just hope it will go away.

This meetup is about helping strong atheists in the UK to organise, communicate and share their opinions and experiences and possibly meet to develop ideas and create local groups. We need to help atheists to be confident in the knowledge that there is a long history of atheist thought. Atheism is a simple commitment to rational and evidence based thinking of which we should be proud, we should be well informed and able to promote its value and not be intimidated by those who tell us we should respect and tolerate religion- its prejudices, teaching and practices that do so much harm in the world.

People are waking up to the harmful effects of religion on individuals lives, on society and the peace and harmony of the world community. Science, politics, morality, education, health and welfare are all areas in which atheists have relevant opinions that are often suppressed by the traditional dominance of religion. We are part of a process towards a more rational and humane future. And we can produce the evidence to back up out opinions.

Atheism has traditionally suppressed by harsh punishment, exclusion and censorship. Now we can express our ideas without being misrepresented or censored, by those who want to protect religion but only on the Internet, Our voice is still not heard along with others in the public space, in parlaiment or the BBC.
