Maryland Atheist Outreach
|
We endeavor to spread the message that atheists are friendly, ethical, and decent people; raise awareness that atheists are not a cringing minority; encourage rational discussion about religion, faith, ethics, and related subjects; and provide support to atheists dealing with negative stigma and undue discrimination from society. We will hold meetings to socialize and discuss topics of interest. We will also attend events of interest, as a group, such as talks, protests, movies, and the like. Finally, we will have "outreach" events which will involve going to various public areas such as museums, events, etc. where we can raise awareness of and spread information about atheism. Those who would like to are strongly encouraged to wear atheist t-shirts, hats, etc. and engage in respectful, rational discussion with people interested in learning more about atheism. Of course, in all things, we strive to have a good time! We welcome anyone who supports our goals, and wishes to participate in any of the events so long as they respect others, and wish to have sensible discussions. Our webpage: http://www.maryla... We respect believers, but not beliefs.
