DC's Gay Atheists and Agnostics
|
The purpose of this group is to provide social opportunities and social support for gays who are atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, and secular humanists. Any gays who are nonreligious and non-churchgoing are welcome in this group. This group will facilitate being able to meet, socialize and get to know each other free from religion. Because of the dominance of religion in American society and because many gays are religious, even participating in religions that are opposed to gay rights, such a group is surely needed. This is not a political group. It is a social group, however, the role religion plays in politics, society and the "gay community" is an appropriate topic of conversation during some of our social gatherings. We will meet one to two times a month. Your suggestions for places to meet and social activities are welcome.
