The lectures mentioned are the last to be presented in the DVD Lecture Series, "Science and Religion"

"Darwin and Responses to Evolution"
Charles Darwin occupies a central position in discussions of science and religion. This lecture looks at
Darwin's theory of evolutionand its complex reaction in context. Darwin's natural selection and common
ancestry ideas impinged on several theological issues, primarially the issue of God's involvement in the
natural world.

"Fundamentalism and Creationism"
Despite the wide acceptance of evolutionary ideas by naturalists and scientists, Darwin's theory
provoked the strongest ever science-religion conflict. The Scopes Monkey Trial was the highpoint in the
fundamentalist crusade against evolution. This led to the invention of creation science and flood geology.
This lecture offers a brief analysis of the foundations of American fundamentalism, a force that continues
to oppose science to this day.

    •  The lecturer did a good job in a short period of time covering these complex issues. He shared interesting insights and many unknown facts about these issues. The participants generally agreed that these were two of the better lectures in the series. We were also impressed with the quality of the videos and agreed that we would also present the lecture series "Consciousness and its Implications" beginning on November 9 and every second Wednesday thereafter at the same location.
