I've read three major athiest-promoting books in the last two years, Sam Harris' "End of Faith," Christopher Hitchens, "God is not Great," and Richard Dawkins, "The God Delusion." I've looked at the works of some other prominent athiests as well, like Bertrand Russell and Sigmund Freud. While I've almost grown tired of some of the arguments because they seem so obvious to me at this point that they don't bear repeating, I would like to discuss these things with other people and see if they are as obvious as I now seem to think. We can start with any book, or perhaps an essay, that we all agree on even if one or more of us has already read it. The reading it is only half of what's important, the discussion is the other half. Hopefully we'll have a good turnout and start something kind of fun. We could even move it to Sunday mornings and compete with churches if you want, haha. Whatever it is, I want to make it fun. No one wants to trudge back to their book club that will yell at them if they don't complete the required reading. Anyone who can intelligently add to the discussion will surely be welcome.
