Announcing "Memphis Writer's Collective"

Hello Memphis Atheists!

Any aspiring writers in this group besides Myself? If so, check this out.

When I decided to make my career change last spring, I noticed a lack of novice writer's groups in the Memphis Area. Plenty of professional ones, but some of those were extremely stuffy and, frankly, way beyond my skill level. Several others noticed the same. We needed a newbie group. So, Memphis Writer's Collective jumped half-grown from this newbie author's head two weeks ago, and multiplied, until we now have 11 members. Below you will see the welcome, agenda, and first meetup.

Welcome aspiring and professional writers of Fiction and non-fiction!

Join us and polish your techniques and strategies by participating in group study of writing and publishing essentials. We are dedicated to improving good writing, fixing flawed writing, and submitting the best manuscripts possible in the effort to get published.

Visit the "Pages" section to learn about our agenda as a collective. Submit your ideas for events or workshops to any of the organizers listed on the main page. WE want to make this the best writer's resource in our area!

This group will have a variety of events to choose from. Attendance is not mandatory but some interaction withing three months is expected. So, once you join, introduce yourself and jump right into the mix!

AGENDA:

We encourage study of writing essentials in a group setting once a month, and as we develop, as often as possible to get what we need accomplished. Please post suggestions for these.

Discussion online is expected and encouraged! Please be kind and mind your email etiquette.

We do not require that you share your work and require no readings. We will have a thriving book club where we study published work and dissect it to find out just why it works.

All workshops will be informal, unless we have a visiting professional, or attend a class en mass. Let's attend Seminars and Conferences as they come up in the area.

Finally, If you are new to Meetup, please explore the column to your left on this screen. Upload pertinent files as you wish. You can also use the message board for broader discussion.
