“ I was a bit late and wasn't sure when I found the place that the group was there. I asked the woman at the far end cash register, but she didn't know either. She said there is a conference room at the other end of the L-shaped area and I walked around the corner and looked in, seeing a nice looking table with chairs, but no one was there. I stood near the front door, looking around and focused on the largest table, saying I was supposed to meet a secular humanist group there. They assured me I was at the right table so I sat down. The leader, Oz, welcomed me and asked me to speak about my interests in the group--which I did. He had us introduce ourselves and take turns speaking about our interests and background. I liked the conversation and felt comfortable talking. One couple had found the group because they are visiting family in this area, but live in Florida. And another young man spoke about his interests. All of us were new to the group except the leader. ”
“ Only one of the regulars was there (me) and four newcomers! What would have happened if I had skipped? These meetings are important for both regulars and newcomers. Thanks for helping organize them. ”
