I find it a bit sad that a person bravely serving the country, has to be afraid of other people serving, because of their faith and how they basically "press" it onto those who choose to think for themselves.
I can only hope a reform will happen soon, maybe if enough people begin to talk, something could happen |

Tyler, I agree completely - "maybe if enough people begin to talk" - and I am hoping that one of our group, who is a veteran can address this issue. I am not a veteran, so I don't want to weigh in on this. I did have a letter to the editor, published in the Gazette a few weeks ago, "outing" myself as an atheist, which I provided on this board, as well as on the Iowa Secularist board.
The Air Force Academy is increasingly merely an arm of the various evangelical churches, and the Veterans Administration hospitals have been sued for evangelizing to the sick - one of whom is an Orthodox Jew, and is suing the Veterans Administration hospital system. Again, if there are veterans on this Board who care to address this issue to the Gazette, this is an issue that does need addressing. It gives new meaning to the song - Onward Christian Soldiers - and is a very dangerous situation. The Gazette Letters to the Editor email address is editorial@gazettecommunications.com Letters must be 250 words or less, and contain full name, address, and daytime phone (they usually contact you to insure that you are the writer).
