"I'm constantly amazed at how good looking and intelligent we all are. Even before the drinking starts."

Kelly McMahon (May 11, 2008)

"As an agnostic, I think people should give this group a try and see how they like it, but I can only be so "forward" about it. ;^)"

Scott Stulken (May 8, 2008)

"Great group of folks - some new people joined. Wonderful event."

Niles (May 2, 2008)

"Had a great time ... let's have some additional, smaller get-togethers, too!"

Ken (May 1, 2008)

"If you are like me, you have wished to be around others who dare to ask questions about god and beliefs. There are many more like you."

Zeb Hodge (Apr 17, 2008)

"Don't buy the BS? Come have a beer with us, we don't either!"

Mike Johnson (Apr 17, 2008)

"I'm very excited about this group. There is a wonderfully diverse membership, and we just keep growing!"

Michael I (Mar 27, 2008)

"It's so nice to have conversations with people about a variety of topics and not have to worry about offending someone's religious sensibilities. It's so refreshing."

Amy (Mar 22, 2008)

"I thought it was an excellent time, and there's a great group together that I've seen so far. If we can take that dynamic and turn it into action, then the fundamentalist establishment had better keep on their toes."

Dan Zeigler (Mar 21, 2008)

"You were all so fun! I can't wait for for our next meeting!!"

Chris (Mar 20, 2008)

"People I met were great and very interesting to talk with. Thank You!"

Jason (Mar 14, 2008)

"Educated."

Edward Greisch (Dec 14, 2007)

About this Meetup

Hello, and welcome to the Meetup!

This is a meetup group designed to be primarily social, but we also discuss topics important to our members. We hope to pull together atheists, agnostics, freethinkers, humanists, brights and whoever else shares a religion-free worldview. I hope you'll join us at our next meetup.

This meetup is sponsored by the Iowa Secularists, Iowa's primary religious-free public interest group. Visit I.S. at www.iowasecularist.org, where you can stay on top of important public issues or exchange ideas in the forum.

Here is the I.S. Mission Statement:

Mission

-To create a community of persons who believe that the truths of the world can be found through logic, reason and science, and who reject religion, mysticism and superstition as a means of explaining the world around us.
-To promote activism and exchange of ideas important to secularists.
-To make positive contributions to our communities through service and involvement in order to reflect and expand secularists? positive influence to the community.
-To educate the public on the value of secular ideals, separation of state & church and living without religion.
-To actively support the Separation of Church and State in our communities, state and nation.
