Meet other local atheists and freethinkers for conversation and friendship! Come to an Atheists Meetup to discuss atheist philosophies and consider the state of spiritual and religious influence in America. This group is sponsored by the Iowa Secularists - Iowa's primary organization for a religion free worldview! We meet for dinner on the third Thursday of every month at 7pm, for a family friendly social on the first Friday of every month, and also for special occasions as announced.

What's New?
-
"hello Susan, Its refreshing to see someone, seemingly rational, at the threshold of atheism.:) I'm new here my self and havent attended a meeting yet, however hope to soon. Until then, cheers!"
-
"Hello, all. I have identified as agnostic for over a decade beginning in high school. Now I am toying with atheism. I feel now that I don't "just not know," but am pretty damn sure that we are all we've got in this world."
-
" You posted the cowboy picture. You are a truly and sincerely secure person, and I respect that greatly. ;-)"
-
"Lori's baby?"
-
"Would I be out of line to pose a philosophical question on a secular message board ? After all Voltaire was a philospher and a secularist, so I'll give it a shot. Is science just as dangerous as..."
-
"I don't know what we would do or be without "Latin" either but I like to think things would be a bit more "right". Latin is the the wests mother language, its odd that it's not a require ment in learning? Well thanks for the shout- back, and what's up what's up with your left eye brow raise? It's an inside thing. Wish it wasn't so difficult for me to get down there to meet with everyone hope to make the trip soon. Take care."
-
"Don't work too hard on decrypting that poem ... just read it slowly and out loud! Actually, my dad had a second poem *about* Latin: "Latin's a very good subject. The best I ever did know. I studied it for a year and a half, and forward I never did go. I don't know what I'd do without it, but I'd certainly like to try.""

"If there are any movies worth seeing that week, I'll be coming up for Mindframe's Dinner and a Movie at the end of May. Drop a line the week of, if you're interested."
-
"I like that. "For those not transferring at Limbo Station, please burn in the designated area." Hope to meet you soon. Belgium, man, Belgium."
-
"Ahoy hoy, Marion Celeste! Welcome aboard!"
-
"Welcome! Excellent favorite movie by the way."
-
"Hey Celeste - welcome to the group!! It's interesting that you felt able to decline confirmation. Not only were you smart enough to know you didn't have to, but you felt that you could say no. Most people I know don't even realize at that age that they don't have to it, and the ones that do are too afraid of their parents and do it anyway. I'll be at Leo's on Thursday, so I look forward to hearing more."
-
"Hey! I'm 24 and a new agnostic. I was raised Catholic in Marion but declined to be confirmed. I'm interested in meeting people with a secular outlook."
-
"Help out by taking 4 online surveys. The responses will help to refine the experimental stimuli for the first study of religious belief at the brain level. http://richarddaw... ..."
-
"How dare your brother change Guinness styles! Changing your mind is not allowed in America. I actually took that pic in Guinness' homeland over the summer and yes it does taste better there."
-
"If any veteran would like to respond to a column in the 5/12/2008 Gazette, see this http://www.iowase... "

-
"I grew tired of the different kids while I was in school telling me that if I didn't accept their faith, I'd burn in their self designated area or something like that. I have a very hard time believing an all power being, tinkers around with me."
