About DC Atheist Women

DC Atheist Women's purpose is to create a community of like-minded women dedicated to social activism and enlightened discussion, in the interest of promoting skepticism, moral development, and a scientifically grounded worldview. We hope to provide a welcoming and supportive social network for freethinking women.

Our Meetups:
Our events vary from purely social to educational. We work closely with local secular organizations that provide speakers and events of interest. For those that wish to participate, we plan to become more involved in group activism and volunteering.

Why an atheist group for women?
I have been active in the secular community for several years now and I have been struck by the gender gap at various secular functions. I wanted to create a positive space for atheist women to come together and promote activism among the secular women of the DC Metropolitan Area.

As secular women, we have our own history and our own issues. I would like to focus on how we can advance the cause of secularism for a more equitable and progressive future.
