There is an organization that will help quite a bit. Most of you have seen the billboards with the clouds and sky saying "don't believe in god? You're not alone." and at the bottom is a web address, usually something like PhillyCOR or DFWCOR.
The COR is "coalition of reason". The group is Freethought action, they will help with signs, but instead of helping one group, they want a "coalition" of area groups. A webpage could easily made to list all the groups similar to our Fl map page. Money can be collected from the bigger groups on our part. This can cut the cost in half.
We need to work together and in coordination with each other. Many atheists are happy with the social aspect of atheist groups and few will be activists. Either way, we need more people to know we exist. I'm sure you often hear "I didn't know there was a group", so we should reach out, find and welcome non-believers.
I am more of an activist. I want to be noticed doing the good things we already do as individuals. Many of us support other charities, one of my favorites is Donorschoose.org . I make my donations in the name of FLorida Atheists and Secular Humanists. Making a donation in your own name for the most part goes unnoticed, but Imagine the confusion I hope I cause in a young child when on Sunday they were taught that atheists are bad and can do no good and monday morning they write a thank you letter to atheists for buying something for their classroom. Create a team for fund raising walks/runs. These are relatively easy things to show the public that atheists do care and are involved.
If you guys are interested, FLASH will buy the domain "FloridaCOR" and together, try see if we can't put up a few boards around Fla. I don't really care where they are in Fla. Along I75, I95 or the turnpike, it will be less in your area than ours, but will benefit every group in Fla.
