Fellow atheists,

As good stewards of our pale blue dot, let us get together to set an example and meet for 2 hours for a canyon clean up in our beautiful city.

When: June 17th, 9 am

Location: Walnut Canyon

Bring: a plastic trash bag, gloves, some device to help you pick up trash if you have trouble bending over, water or preferred beverage.

Wear: clothing you would be comfortable hiking in

As you all know, larger human populations are placing ever increasing pressure on our environment. One challenge we face is the large volumes of plastics and other toxic and/or non-biodegradable substances that are polluting our oceans. We can help mitigate that by taking the time to clean our Canyons. Waste from the canyons is often blown out to sea or floats down when the rains finally come. Please take a look at the attached video for information on the impact human waste is having on our oceans.

Looking forward to seeing you there. (Canyon location to be announced)

Who attended?

  • 4 attendees
    •  A good time and effort. Even with just 4 of us, we got a lot accomplished. Unfortunately, I had to leave after only an hour as my knee started bothering me climbing down the canyon, but thanks to all for the effort!
    •  Four of us showed up. We cleaned for about 1.5 hours. I was surprised by how much trash we were able to collect in such a short time with such few people.
