We're looking for intelligent, creative and fun people to join our community of New Atheists and Agnostics. Building a fun-loving, supportive community is the main purpose of this group, not discussion of atheist philosophy. This group will provide the benefits available to like-minded communities without the downsides, such as religious beliefs. We welcome atheists, agnostics, humanists, brights and other secular humans.

A community starts with strong social bonds. This group is here to help facilitate that process.

Peter

I like this group immensely and think the social aspect is it's major selling point over philisophical debate.

“Jaz, Thanks for the greeting. I had never heard of David Brin. His books sound like a fun read. I might check them out. I think the trait that I take from my Azorean roots is humility. As far as the influence of northern california, I'm a bit of a child of the 60's as a result of growing up there. What are MU events? Where are you from Jaz?”

“Author in progress of large near future novel series exploring post-"natural" evolutionary psyche, species, sensations, culture. Strong pluralist, multiculturalist with interests both in political philosophy and post-nation era memetic structures.”

“Enjoyed Jose Saramago's small work on refugees in an ark after he won the prize. Amazing though not surprising that critics within Portuguese tradition then lambasted him for deviating from his regular portrayal of saudade, an optimistic exploration was beyond their own character, cherishing him. ah, the Rushdies. Have you read David Brin's inclusion of Portuguese culture in his futurist Uplift series, Peter? What stimulates you as a Northern Californian with Portuguese roots?”
