Religion is a mind virus because you could prove to a religious person beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was no god and somehow they would still believe. How dangerous is that? Its dangerous enough to make someone strap a jacket full of C4 to their body, kill children and think they did it for a good cause. This mind virus is more deadly than any nuclear weapon.

That's what I say...

I don't mean to seem like I'm killing discussion, but generally we're going to try to keep the Meetup message board specific to Des Moines meetups/information/etc.

I think we should definitely talk about this, but I think the discussion will be healthier at www.iowasecularists.org, on the forums there, where we can take advantage of not just a local group, but the larger network of Iowa Secularists as a whole.
