Meeting Description

Organized by

"We'll meet up at the lobby of the theater before the movie. Ask around for the atheists, and you'll find us."
--August Berkshire

Details

This month's Meal and Reel is a special event, reversing the standard routine of food first, movie later, and changing the location to Downtown Minneapolis. The movie will be "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed." This film has sparked some controversy because of how interviews were conducted, and methods used to control review by all parties ahead of release this last Friday. The movie seeks to bring attention to censoring of Intelligent Design proponents in academic institutions by Darwinists. Featured in the film is Richard Dawkins and our own PZ Myers. Go to the movie's website for more information.

Stick around after the movie for dinner at A Taste of Thailand near by. Dinner should be right around 8:00 PM or so for those who want to meet up later.

I agree with August. If we want to complain about this movie with integrity, we shouldn't rely on third party reviews alone. Of course, those who have been diagnosed with a heart condition have an excuse not take the risk.

I think we need to see this movie because we always criticize theists when they don't expose themselves to our arguments. We can also be pleased that this movie was slammed by impartial reviewers. I hope I remember to bring some paper to take notes. My theist friends will want to know what I thought of the movie. To keep a dialogue open with religious people, and to call ourselves honest atheists, we sometimes have to expose ourselves to this kind of intellectual garbage. Noblesse oblige.

I'm torn. I think seeing that movie will just make me angry.
