"I'd like to meet other atheists. Although I have a distaste for the use of guilt and coercion in converting others to religions that claim to be the only true way, I like to remain open-minded and respectful of others' beliefs, if not their tactics."

  • "Hi, Deb. Thanks for the Shout. I'm new to all this computer meetup stuff, so still a little confused about how it all works. I see that you have kids and are raising them atheist. I was raised without religion/god talk (not specifically "atheist", but a-theist in the without theism sense), and now I have 18 and 13 year sons without god. I am very grateful to my parents for that, and didn't suffer any negatives except lack of community. Good luck!"

"Hi. I've been an atheist my whole life despite my mother trying to indoctrinate me into the Catholic faith. Even at 5 I could see the fallacy. I am fiscally very conservative but socially liberal. I vote against Republicans for the obvious reasons."
