AAI Convention 2009

The "Is anyone going to the AAI Convention?" thread has been closed so I guess need to start a new one.

Well I went up to the convention Sat. They had day passes for $75 so I grabbed one so I could listen to Richard Dawkins talk. It was awesome, about 650 ppl showed up from all over the world. Met a lot of cool folks from all walks of life. A lot of interesting conversations and cool merchandise. Bought some Atheist pins, a heavy metal atheist CD and a copy of Dawkins new book "The Great Show on Earth- the Evidence for Evolution", which is the reason it's taken me so long to post this update- I just can't put it down.

As always, Richards talk was riveting, focusing mostly on his book, but taking plenty of potshots at the "History-Deniers", Radical Islamists and other non-thinkers. After the talk Richard had a book signing, so of course I got mine signed. While in line I was talking to a couple of guys behind me and Mr. Deity walked up and chatted with us for for a minute. Quite a character.

Great way to spend a Saturday. Unfortunately, next years event will be in Montreal. Guess I better start saving.
