Introduction
I am interested in connecting to a social network that is interested social justice for reasons other than the fear of a god.
How long have you been conscious that you no longer believe in gods? Has the realization altered things in your life?
I realized this in a world religions class in high school, I was 14-years old. Sharing this realization with my family has been the most difficult piece of sharing my non-believer identity.
What led you to abandon your faith in the prevailing mythologies of the culture? Was it a sudden realization? Triggered by an event? Or did you just gradually evolve to this position without realizing it until it was done?
The combination of studying the world's religions and coming out lead me to leave my faith pretty quickly. The hostility toward LGBTQ people that exists in some religious communities in this culture most certainly expedited this realization for me.
What belief system were you raised in?
I was raised ELCA Lutheran.
