Tames Birini, a new member of our group and Hungarian who grew up in a Communist world, will give a 30 minute talk on what it was like for him growing up. This will be a very interesting talk followed by questions. Additionally, we will be treated to home made Hungarian food at the meeting. Please feel free to bring beverages and desserts.

Very interesting. Maybe I learned more about Americans than I did about Hungary. :D Have a lot to think about after this. Thank you Tames and the Victors for putting this on. somehow I don't think people will be as eager to try out the Scottish food if I do one;)

Stu and I will be there. Don't know if the kids will want to come but it would be good for them to hear Tames speak.

I don't think I would like growing up under communism but it was interesting hearing about how it was. Anyone have a Trabant for sale?
    •  There was a lot of food for thought, as well as great food , with regards to how people's frame of reference based on their upbringing reflects on their acceptance , for the most part, of the status quo. We didn't really get into that but could be a good discussion at a later date since there's something that immigrants seem to possess ( least in my experience in being one) is to approach the USA with a realistic frame of reference to what's good/ bad. On the whole I learned that the UK socialism ,while not coercive overtly, is certainly on the road to becoming closer to the East as they become closer to the West. Sad that most of the questions are based on money though. Money doesn't motivate as much as relationships but we didn't get into dating, marriage , adultery etc in such a society. Fuck the state and what they tell you to do How do people really live:D
