About Fun Loving Atheists of Maryland

Since the threat of Theocracy has been removed for the time being, I am changing the focus of the group. It will remain atheist based, but the goal will be to inform others of entertainment events. These events will be setup as meetups, but you are welcome to go solo or to take your personal friends and/or family. The idea is, first, to notify you of entertainment events, second, let you decide weather you want to be around other atheists who may be attending. The six month restriction will be removed because as long as you are a member you will be notified of entertainment events. As always, your input about what types of events that you would like will be encouraged. As atheists, though, I will notify you of any Separation of Church and State events. I discourage Humanists, Skeptics and Agnostics from joining for the following reasons. Humanist philosophy like most beliefs encourage proselytizing. Skeptics and Agnostics still are having difficulty in accepting reality which encourages maladaptive behavior. In order to maintain the like-minds concept, the type of atheist is very important. Contrary to what you may have heard, atheists are not of like-minds. That concept is promoted by people who want to form political and philosophical groups. Forming communities based on what one doesn't believe does not create a strong social cohesion among it's members.
Keep in mind that if you do choose to want to help change the negative stigma of atheists in today's society, you are welcome to join the National Pocket Atheists. Be forewarned that membership in the Pocket Atheists is not easy to obtained. Many cultural beliefs (beliefs which are influenced greatly by Christianity) of atheists will not allow them to mingle in public with shirts identifying themselves as atheists. It is unfortunate that atheists, who are the most sane, believe they should hide from the public. In time, after exposure to everyday atheists (the goal of the Pocket Atheists), believers of every kind will realize that we are very much like them. When that happens, the stranglehold that religion has on our culture will be removed and atheists will no longer be the most ostracized group in America.
