I went to see the new Ben Stein movie Expelled today with my parents. My step-dad is a right wing fundamentalist xtian and has no idea I am an atheist. He is the only person I will not tell because it would be my mom who would have to deal with the aftermath.
The movie was very interesting. I was, however, annoyed with Stein's interview of Dawkins. I would be interested to see which parts of this interview ended up on the cutting room floor. I felt Stein kept implying that since no one knows how the world, universe, etc, was created then the answer has to be a deity. This line of thinking really pisses me off. I recommend everyone see this movie or perhaps we could all watch it as a group. |

Every time I hear about this movie it pisses me off. I almost don't want to see it, but if we arranged a group viewing it might be interesting.
Have you guys read the E-Skeptic articles about the movie? If you're not subscribed to E-Skeptic you should; it's great: part 1: http://www.skeptic.co... part 2: http://www.skeptic.co... Jen |

Some things aren't meant to get my money or time, for anything done by Ben Stein, Passion of The Christ and the likes, or reenactment movies about 911 are those things!
I'd rather watch flies screw than watch Expelled thanks for the heads up thou! Danita |

I watched the movie today with a Christian friend.
I wasn't horrified by any of it, although there was lots of head shaking on my part. I actually expected worse, but it was what it was. Propaganda for ID. I didn't think Dawkins came off bad in his interview with Stein. I did find it odd that when Dawkins read his long and hilariously truthful quote about the "Old Testament" god, Stein asked him, "That's what you think of god?" and Dawkins replied, "Yes" without again emphasizing that he was referring specifically to the "OT" god. I used a Regal gift card my sister gave me to gain admission, so that's how I justified paying for it. :) But, I also have a strange attraction towards watching things I disagree with. I actually forced a Mormon friend of mine to go watch "The Book of Mormon" movie when that was in the theater a few years ago. |
