Who organized?
Don Wharton
Don Wharton will be attending this meeting and will be available to talk with DC Atheists both before and after the meeting. This is an event scheduled by the Washington Area Secular Humanists. Separation of religion from government is an important issue for atheists but more importantly it is an opportunity for me (Don Wharton) to talk with other members of the DC Atheists meetup.
Topic: The November elections resulted in significant changes for our country. How have issues like the ‘faith-based initiative’ been affected? Is the Religious Right still a powerful movement and are ‘culture war’ issues still potent? What about the Supreme Court? In this talk, Rob Boston of Americans United for Separation of Church and State will discuss these issues and others as he assesses the state of the wall of separation between church and state in 2009 and offers a glimpse of what the future might bring.
Rob Boston is senior policy analyst at Americans United for Separation of Church and State in Washington, D.C. Rob is a long time member of WASH and serves on the board of directors of the American Humanist Association.
