Ken, I think we should do our blood donation program at the 68th St. blood bank again--like we used to. They had more of a party atmosphere there...we could sit around afterwards and nosh and drink and socialize. This 53rd St. blood bank is all business. When people give blood, they want to feel a sense of accomplishment and they want others to be there to share it with.

Zack, actually some of us will be on our FEET. lol. And yes, we do indeed want to promote the idea that atheists are "helpful & giving" but the deeper message here is that prayer doesn't do a #!!*# thing--it's just basically talking to yourself --while donating blood can save someone's life. I.e, get off your knees or ass on the so-called "National Day of Prayer" and DO SOMETHING POSITIVE for humanity. Throw out that rosary and do something tangible that counts.

Actually, we'll be on our asses. lol. Sorry, had to say it. But I think it's great that we are showing everyone how Atheists (because they are realists) can be more helpful and giving than "believers"

I'd like to come, but I already donated blood last Tuesday. Maybe I'll just watch.

Well I have no idea how many others attended. My friend and I arrived early and donated almost immediately. The staff said people from the group had been "trickling"in all day and more were arriving. I never get to attend the events and had hoped to meet more of the group, but the overall experience and the idea behind the meetup made it well worth while.
