This month (and probably next month) we'll be meeting at Ramsi's Restaurant on Bardstown Road. Ramsi's has set aside a private space for us during the meetup time. As usual, try to be there at 7pm if you want to order food, and Clara Harris will be doing her performance at 8 pm. We already have a few women who have promised to tell their personal stories, and I hope to have more. Impromptu commentaries are welcome, of course, but if you know you want to prepare something to say, please let Mikel know at her email address ( [masked] ) that you will be saying something, and try to give an idea how long you'll be talking, so she can best organize everyone's commentaries.

This month's keynote guest will be Clara Harris, who will be performing her ten-minute play "Good Little Church Girls," which deals with with what young girls are taught about being a woman in fundamentalist Christian households, vs. the reality of being a woman today.

Ms. Harris is an accomplished actor, singer, playwrite and teacher who has both appeared in written several plays here in town at Actors' Theater, and elsewhere around the country.

I'd like to use this as a jumping off point for giving the women of the group the chance to speak their minds. So I'm going to ask if there are any women of the group who came up through a similar evolution and would like to write a page or two about what they were taught to expect by religion and who they are now.

It was my first meetup and I had a wonderful time! It was great meeting so many new people and hearing personal experiences. It was great meeting people I can relate to in this way.

Ramsi's is friendly place (outside of the Motorcyle noise which is sadly a reality everywhere in Highlands) an idea area for our group because of the diverse population who lives and visits there. Perhaps the owners can place us further back in the facility next time. As always Joe and Mikel did an outstanding job of providing an interesting and stimulating venue where people can learn and share ideas.I am glad to be part of this wonderful group !

For the vegetarians in the group: Ramsi's has a great variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes, and dishes that may be order vegetarian. Lots of great meat dishes as well :)

My lunch today was devoted to getting that finalized, and I was just about to send a message about it.

    •  The speakers were excellent! The actress and the people from our group that spoke were very articulate and entertaining! My only reason for rating the meetup as good and not great is due to the noise from Bardstown Road. I had a very difficult time hearing everyone!
    •  Lots of fun. I enjoyed sharing and hearing everyone else's stories. The play was very good too.

I actually preferred meeting at Ramsi's this month. Kaelin's is very accomodating, but I don't like being limited to just an $8 burger or $6 salad. We were able to order anything off the menu, the food was great and the prices were in line. It was nice to meet so many new faces!
    •  It was my first meetup. I had a great time. Thank you.
    •  I like the choice of Ramsi's as the location. It was a great first meeting, and I will definitely be there for more in the future! Thanks!
    •  Some speakers read from multi-page essays, taking many more minutes than the guidelines allowed. Rather mundane stuff. But very informative overall.

It was very hard to hear much of what was being said. Not anyone's fault- just the room and location next to a busy road on St. Patrick's Day, and it was warm, so the motorcycles were out. It was the largest group I have seen at a meeting. All the people are very nice.
