The book for January is The End of Faith by Sam Harris.

This was chosen by the group in part to continue a discussion theme inspired by Contact. How will human kind survive our "technological adolescence" without destroying ourself and the planet in the process? How important is it for us to overcome the old superstitions of humanity in order to insure our own survival?

So far we have been having good attendence and great discussion. Come and join us if you have not yet :)

Really, really enjoyed it, but I did think a little structure was needed. I would suggest the first half-hour of discussion be focused on the book selected and then continue the discussion in a free lance manner. The various ideas and perspectives voiced by those in attendance were very interesting and thought provoking.

    •  Great discussion as usual. I love the open dialogue style of the meeting.
    •  This was my first book club meeting and I'm glad i came, the group is friendly and gave me yet one chance to open up my mind and see another point of view. Having the meeting at a public book store, a place of learning and exploration, helps add balance to my neighborhood.
    •  It's so nice to spend a couple of hours talking to like-minded people, and the book we read (The End of Faith, by Sam Harris) is an excellent, scholarly, readable work on history, philosophy, religion, and the future.
    •  Needs a little direction concerning the topic (book review) but it appears we will get there.I enjiyed it and it has great potential.
