Ex-Christian Testimonies

Our speaker for this month canceled so this coming meeting will be more about the members. Specifically, we'd like to hear the stories of those in our group who are ex-Christian (or ex-Muslim or ex-whatever religion). Share your story of how you once saw the world as one of the faithful and how you broke free.

I may or may not be able to make it I have a class at the exact same time but I'm going to try to hit another one earlier in the day. Will anything in particular be discussed?

Well, when I first showed up, I feared that it would be one of those meetings where John and I would end up just talking amongst ourselves, and there would be the kind of awkward silence between the members and the new guys. I'm so glad it didn't end up like that. Of course, I'm horrible with names, so I don't remember who came over to initially converse with us, but that guy was awesome and I'm glad he got us involved with the rest of the group. (I remember faces, but names always slip me the first couple of times.) When we did get over to the main table discussions, I found that there was just too many things that I wanted to talk about that we just didn't have time for, which I would think is normal for not being able to talk about it for so many years. I still want to come back and tell my faith fallout story, I think many would find it interesting. I also really like DeistPaladin's YouTube channel, and I felt like meeting him was almost like meeting a celebrity.
    •  Good to hear others' stories. Good to see new people so often.
    •  I was very happy to meet the infamous John L Armstrong as well as all the other non-deluded people who came to the event. I only wish I were free more Tuesday nights. I'd be a regular. I ate well, drank beer and enjoyed the rare company of people who think much like me.
    •  It would have been good to structure it a bit more so more of us (including me) would talk. Perhaps a handout of 3-5 thought-provoking questions would have gotten us going.
    •  This meetup was much smaller than the last 2 but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. We had a P.A. this time, but it wasnt like we really needed it. We had a couple of first time folks attend and I hope they felt welcome amounst our little group of godless heathens.
