August Berkshire of Minnesota Atheists and the Atheist Alliance International contacted me about wanting to meet with Atheists from Indianapolis...he'd already scheduled a trip to Richmond, IN for June 15th-17th...after talking to Reba, we decided to hold a special event for Mr. Berkshire downtown at the CFI center on June 15th.

Soooooo....this message is to let you know about Mr. Berkshire's "greet and meet" downtown, but to also find out if anyone still wants to meet at Moe and Johnny's in Broadripple that week. It's a possibility we can still have a Broadripple meeting on Tuesday night, 6/16...a couple of people may not be interested in going downtown at all and still want to meet on Monday night...let me know what you want to do...the sooner the better...I've got a vacation coming that starts on 6/6 and ends on 6/14...assuming everything goes as planned I'll be out somewhere in the Northeast on a motorcycle...and I'd like to have this squared away before I leave.

Thanks. Bryan

Indy Atheist Meetup-- Monday, June 15, 7:00 pm. Center for Inquiry Indiana, 350 Canal Walk, Suite A, Indianapolis. This June meeting will be a joint meeting with Center for Inquiry Indiana at the CFI center. August Berkshire will be a special guest. It will be a “meet and greet” with enough food for an evening meal available for a suggested donation of $5.00. You may bring your favorite beverage or drink what is available at the center.

August will also be speaking on, "Introduction to Atheism."

What is atheism? How is it different from theism and agnosticism? How does the atheistic worldview differ from the theistic worldview? How many atheists are there? What are some atheist critiques of theism? What is the evidence for evolution? Why aren't creationism and intelligent design science? What is the link between brain activity and religious belief (neurotheology)? Is there an evolutionary basis for god belief? Where do ethics come from? What are the problems with linking abortion to religious belief? How do atheists find purpose in life? What does the law say about separation of state and church? Why do atheists bother to organize? What are some popular books on atheism? What is the atheist billboard campaign?

August Berkshire has been an atheist activist for 25 years and is currently vice president of Atheist Alliance International. He often speaks on atheism to the media and at public school comparative religion classes and Christian colleges. For the past five years he has had the "ATHEIST" car license plate for Minnesota.
